About Me

Hi! I’m Emily: a professional vocalist, performer, and voice/piano teacher with a background in musical theater and contemporary music. I trained at the American Musical & Dramatic Academy in NYC and have spent many years performing around the world as a guest entertainer, in musicals, in live bands, and at private events. My performance experience spans musical theater, pop, jazz, and classic standards, which allows me to meet students wherever they are stylistically while building strong technical foundations.

As a teacher, I focus on creating a supportive, confidence-building environment where students feel safe to explore their voices and express themselves. My lessons emphasize healthy vocal technique, ear training, basic music theory, and age-appropriate musicianship. I aim to make learning fun, empowering, and inspiring while helping students develop real skills they can carry with them for life.

When did you start playing music, what brought you to it?

My family is all very musical and I was always surrounded by music, I realized I loved singing when I was very young.

What other instruments, aside from the ones you teach, have you played before?

Viola

What style(s) of music do you like the most? Why?

Musical theatre is my one true love!

What are some of your favorite teaching moments?

My favorite moment is when a singer has been struggling with balancing out their vocal registers and we tap into what that elusive “mix belt” feels like and they have an “a ha!” Moment.

What are some musical goals you hope to achieve?

I am still actively performing and auditioning and hoping to make my Broadway debut 🙂

What advice could you give to someone who has just begun learning music?

Sing/play things you like! You will work harder on music you really feel connected to.

What is a musical obstacle that you remember overcoming? How did you overcome it?

I had to work a lot on the break in my voice between my registers. It was so exciting when I made real progress on it!
