Music Lessons for any age, any level of playing...
Regardless of age or skill level, any of the teachers at Haddonfield Sound will be equipped to help you reach your musical goals. Goals large and small are important to each individual musician's growth and that's where we come in. Each of our music teacher's goal is to understand your perspective on music and then provide you with the necessary tools to advance to the place you want to be!
One common question we receive is: "How can I learn to play an instrument?"
If you've tried to learn on your own, you know this can be a challenge endeavor. The answer is the same for picking up any new skill: no matter the instrument, practice, time, and dedication will help you to learn the basics of playing music.
An understanding of the fundamentals of technique, notes, chords, rhythm, harmony, etc. can be learned on any instrument - this knowledge of music theory can even make it easy to use what you've learned on a second instrument!
In each lesson, we strive to provide students with a strong understanding of music theory, while still focusing on the music that the student enjoys. Our approach may differ based on how each student learns. As some students thrive by learning about concepts for longer periods of time and in a variety of different ways, while some prefer to move quickly from one topic to another. Neither way is necessarily the correct way, but we spend time getting to know each student so we can utilize the approach that works best for them.
When exploring a musical concept, your teacher will usually present an exercise or song that helps to practice the topic discussed. This helps to gauge the students understanding of the concept. After this, the direction of your learning can take many forms, as perhaps you have a specific song you feel may be fun to learn, or perhaps your teacher will have some ideas on new pieces or exercises to try.
While there are many directions your music lessons can take, there are important fundamentals that each student should learn to ensure long term success. From there, your music lessons can be whatever you want them to be, and if you're unsure what that is, we will work with you to figure it out!
